Now in its fifth year, the Festa Literária de Santa Teresa (FLIST) continues to draw ever-growing crowds for a weekend of events in the most convivial setting imagineable, the bohemian glory of the Santa Teresa hills. Born out of the neighbourhood's Centro Educacional Anísio Teixeira school (CEAT), the event was created to bring the public into closer contact with the industry's creators, publishers and, indeed, fellow readers, with talks from famous names that this year includes chilldren's author Ana Maria Machado and a homage to Vinicius de Moraes.
Parque das Ruínas will be the main focus of the weekend, with a temporary children's library set up inside, and the rooftop café taken over by Natacha Fink, the chef behind local foodie favourite Espírito Santa. Further highlights include children's reading circles at Largo das Letras (Rua Almirante Alexandrino 501) and a feijoada from 11am hosted at Casa Vermelha (Rua Aarão Reis 126), while the closing party promises to be a rousing affair thanks to the presence of the Orquestra Tabajara (Sunday at 6pm, Parque das Ruínas).
