The '70s Carnival spirit captured in a new exhibition
With the Salgueiro samba school beginning its Carnival 2013 preparations some nine months in advance, why wouldn't the Eletrobras cultural centre seize the off-season moment to exhibit a collection of fifty photographs from the seasonal madness of the '70s? The late carioca snapper Bina Fonyat, one of the most important photographers in Brazil at his untimely death in 1985, is behind the collection of images taken between 1972-78 and compiled in a book at the end of that decade but long since deleted.
