Fifteen of Centro's most eye-catching old buildings receive a Rio+20 illumination makeover
Rio's historical centre has been dramatically updated for the duration of the Rio+20 event thanks to the thought-provoking Luz na Cidade project. Using multi-coloured, low-wattage bulbs on the façades of buildings including the Theatro Municipal, the Museu Nacional das Belas Artres and Centro Cultural Justiça Federal, the event brings together famous names from the world of lighting design and art including the Brazilians Regina Silveira, Albano Afonso, David Batchelor and Luiz Zerbini; French trio Erik Samakh, Delphine Reist and Electronic Shadow; English pair Anthony McCall and Ron Haselden, and Argentinian Julio Le Parc.
