Leading Brazilian graf artist takes things indoors
Carioca painter Marcelo Ment is one of Brazil's leading urban artists, and until 4 March the spray can specialist will be exhibiting his new show Contrastes, featuring a dose of multimedia, photography from his global escapades and, of course, some freshly-finished exclusive grafmanship. The first floor is a black and white work across two walls blending bleak cityscapes with a little humour and landmarks from his native Penha, the contrast in question coming up against the rich palette of colour used on the second floor. Seven individual pieces make up a brand new (and extended) image of his muse and signature figure called Ninguem sabe quem é ela who has been cropping up around the city for four years. The undoubted highlight, however, is the impressive interactive Olho Magico, a five-foot high box with eyeholes strategically placed around it through which to catch different glimpses of the world within.
