Throughout the Rio+20 event, Brazilian artist Vik Muniz will be turning rubbish into art on a grand scale, recreating the view of Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain from Dona Marta (pictured above) in the grounds of the Museu de Arte Moderna. With the help of visitors' donations of plastic bottles and cans and the recycling of waste from the +20 event itself, Muniz, who has already reproduced the Mona Lisa out of jam and The Last Supper from chocolate and sugar, plans to create a 25 metre-wide image, with donators able to place their items directly onto the work (under his guiding eye, of course).
