The installation 'Ver para olhar' consists of 28 unusual chairs, stools and seats in a line, each with a anthropomorphic wooden box resting upon it. A beam of light and a steel pole run along them to the last chair, which acts as the screen upon which the light's image is finally revealed, having bypassed the previous obstacles, of a woman holding hands with her young daughter.
A graduate from Rio's UFRJ university, Salgado was artist in residence in Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 1991, and still has work in a permanent collection in Essex, United Kingdom, as well as the MAM and MAC museums closer to home. This is the artist's third show at the Paço Imperial, coinciding with those by Roberto Magalhães and Luiz Aquila.
