German beer, German food, carioca welcome
This small German restaurant-cum-pub serves up authentic cuisine and some excellent imported draught beer direct from the fatherland, most notably the crisp Erdinger. Owned and run by Mike and his wife, the bar is equally popular with expats and cariocas alike. The homemade apple strudel is not to be missed, nor is, on your way in or out, Mike's neighbour Nega Teresa's aracaje, a spicy, shrimp-filled black-eyed pea patty from the northeast perfect for mopping up the grog.
