One of the most popular samba schools among foreign visitors, Salgueiro's proximity to Zona Sul has always made it a major draw for the inquisitive, non-local Carnival lover, a fact reflected in the higher-than-average entry prices. The huge hall with its red and white ceiling and elevated drumming troupe is an impressive sight, and things get packed and sweaty from early on, so arrive early (taking a quick taxi from Sanes Pena Metrô station), grab a beer and a snack on the street outside and beat the rush to the floor.
