Rising Brazilian talent Maria Gadú showcases her timeless sound on carioca soil once more to kick off the new season of Quartas Notáveis, the weekly Wednesday project at Miranda where, rather than slinking off stage to get stuck into their rider, artists have to field questions from the audience.
After releasing her first album in 2009, Maria Gadú’s fame has grown worldwide, gaining two Latin Grammy Award nominations and generous praise from Brazilian music icons including Caetano Veloso. Her hits, ‘Shimbalaê’ and ‘Linda Rosa,’ have won over the hearts of samba-loving fans and helped her gain a loyal following. Gadú is currently touring Brazil in support of her second album with the show ‘Mais uma Página’.
The project's curator, journalist Marcos Preto, leads the post-show discussion in an effort to deepen people’s understanding and relationship with the past and present of Brazilian popular music.
