Carnival signs off with a bang, and the biggest bloco of them all
It ain't over til it's over with Carnival, and Monobloco on the Sunday after the Parade of Champions is quite simply a beast of a bloco. Successfully incorporating various styles into their ouvre beyond merely samba, they injected the whole street party culture with some much-needed life in the process. Hundreds of thousands will descend onto the wide avenue that is Rio Branco in Centro, following the swarm until Cinelândia where it stops a while before the usual spin off sound trucks and entertainment take over. Grab a spot on the steps of the Theatro Municipal if you want a fine vantage point and an idea of the sheer size of the crowd. Essential, for those who still have any stamina left.
