Santa Teresa's famous bloco comes to the Gabinete - nun outfits optional
For some revellers, the Carmelitas bloco is a highlight of carnival, filling the streets of Santa Teresa with its raucous drums and crowds dressed as the nuns who founded this neighbourhood. The only complaint has been that the sheer size of the throng makes it difficult to get close to the action. That makes this appearance by the band at Gabinete the perfect opportunity to hear them play the samba classics and tunes which have brought the rucus in Santa Teresa over the years.
