The Brighton boys hit the road to showcase new album 'Junk of the Heart'
Any band that gets signed by a major label within three months of forming is always likely to get tagged with the 'next big thing' and a massive marketing campaign from the record company to ensure the hype is backed up with sales. The Kooks early commercial success and massive radio airplay at least appeared to justify the interest, with gold records tumbling their way, but as ever the British music press quickly went cold.
Lead singer Luke Pritchard went from cool indie pin-up to also ran in the space of a few months, but second album Konk was the big, global commercial success that 2006 single Naïve promised they were capable of. Regardless of trends, the Queremos crew's crowdfunding approach to putting on shows make for a dedicated crowd of fans so the atmosphere will be electric and the hits sung back with interest.
