The double-Grammy winning US rock lions Linkin Park haul their latest world tour to Rio, showcasing fifth album Living Things, released earlier this year and devoured by fans. Scoring a number one in no fewer than seventeen countries, the record marked an indisputable return to form for the six-piece, thanks partly to the magic touch of production god Rick Rubin (Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chilli Peppers), but also to a return to the big, radio-friendly riffs and choruses of yore. Seemingly purpose built to fill the huge venues they have commanded ever since debut record Hybrid Theory, the songs' subject matter may be bleak, but the peaks and drops are once again dramatic enough to slice through the occasionally turgid metal that threatened to suffocate them on previous albums.

The band’s pairing of rap and rock may not be the most original to have ever graced the Citibank Hall stage, but it is an incendiary live show, and few front men do it quite as well as the shaven-headed (and wonderfully monikered) Chester Bennington. Known for his vein-popping performances of hits like ‘Numb’, the numerous crowd-pleasing hits will have Barra bouncing, but don’t expect the hardcore fans to let up the pace during the new material either.
