Hot on the heels of last week's Samba celebrations at Oswaldo Cruz comes National Forró Day, celebrating the traditional North-East Brazil sound that has undergone a massive resurgence in popularity here in Rio. Among the artists sharing the stage for the huge open-air party are Chico Salles, Sanhauá, Trio Rapacuia, Mala e Cuia and Trio Remelexo with DJs keeping the crowds moving in flowing tandem throughout the historic setting of Praça Tiradentes as the bands switch over. Triangles at the ready, dancing shoes on, this is a true slice of Brazilian culture.
