To celebrate the release of their ten-year CD and DVD collection, the creative five-piece by the name of PianOrquestra offers three free shows in the heart of Botafogo this weekend. With the help of notable vocal talents like Teresa Cristina, Monica Salmaso, Mariana Baltar, Manu Santos and Maíra Freitas, the album is a journey through Brazilian rhythms and international compositions, with the piano and its various timbres always as the centrepiece. Four pianists and a Japanese percussionist gather around the instrument, hitting it with everything from a flip-flop to pieces of wood to recreate the likes of Gonaguinha, Milton Nascimento and even The Beatles. A highly unusual, captivating performance.
Note: Tickets will be given out one hour before the performance, and are limited to 192 per show.
