Copacabana’s beloved gritty music dungeon, Fosfobox is celebrating its ninth birthday the only way it knows how to: with three full nights of thumping, sweaty blowouts soundtracked by a red-hot cast of local DJ talent. House music lovers will crowd the underground dance floor on April 19 when a list of talents that includes the mastermind behind the electro D-Date parties, Bernardo Campos, as well as the duo responsible for Bootleg shindigs, Leo Janeiro and Jonas Rocha, take over duties.
Indie rock and pop are covered on the second evening with part-DJ, part-rocker Tomás Tróia's hard-rocking tunes and Bootie Rio veteran Fernando Schlaepfer's crazy mash-ups. If the names Skrillex and Rusko mean anything to you, Sunday night promises more bass drops than you can pop and lock to, straight from the turntables of Calbuque and MC Ângelo B. DJ Nepal and Pedro Piu and their cool mix of soul and funk join others to round out the last night of the three-day dance fest. And as if a back-to-back celebration with over 30 DJs were not enough, Fosfobox bar will also be hosting twenty lesser-known local acts upstairs.
Friday, 19 April: electro, techno, house
Saturday, 20 April: rock/pop/indie
Sunday, 21 April: nufunk, nudisco, dubstep, soul and break
