Metrô Cidade Nova
The Chemical Music Festival has finally found a new home after wranglings with the Barra locals that their sizeable rave-ups used to keep awake all night. Estação Leopoldina has previously hosted Ministry of Sound and its ilk without the success of, say, the Back2Black festival, but these boys know a thing or two about pulling in a crowd and putting on a show. Speaking of which, UK DJ Jamie Jones is the headliner, the man behind the latest Fabric Mix CD and a deft blender of house music ranging from the tough and funky to laidback and electro and taking the scene by storm. Germany's Anthony Rother puts in a 'live' set, and local boys Mauricio Lopes, Gustavo MM, Bernardo Campos and brilliantly named Flutuance are among the 30-odd names keeping the beats thumping across three stages until dawn and beyond.
