Rio Restaurant 'Week' (it now lasts a fortnight), returns for the seventh time to offer Rio's gourmands an affordable route in to some of its best restaurants with set-price, three course menus created specifically for the event. The list might be a little overwhelming, but we've picked out our own top ten to help ease the decision making:

Pan-Asian fans will have plenty to feast upon at Mekong and Manekineko, whilst the rising tide of gastrobars in the city is also well represented. Copacabana's grand, old-worldy Charleston Lounge champagne bar, the smart and tasty Q in Leblon and Botafogo's Ambre still serve up quality food but in a considerably more relaxed environment.

If it is something a little more formal you want for your money, the unusual Casa da Suiça, set in the Swiss Embassy no less, has a certain old school charm, as does Garden in Ipanema. Sawasdee serves Thai classics with a Brazilian twist, or for a more authentic national option, the Amazonian-flavoured Espírito Santa is the jewel in Santa Teresa's crown. A more contemporary cool can be found at Oui Oui in Humaitá, and the full list of participating restaurants can be found at www.restaurantweek.com.br.

Bear in mind that some restaurants only offer a lunch option, so be sure to check the site to avoid your bargain dinner having an expensive sting in the tail.
