This, the 11th edition of the youPIX festival, an event dedicated to internet culture in all its glory, takes place in real time, in a real place and with real people, over three days. It might, just might, be enough to get some of the city’s geeks and hackers off the internet for a couple of days. But never off Twitter (@youpix).
Discussing the influence of web technology in the most diverse fields, including journalism, marketing, fashion and even gastronomy, the ‘people and pixels’ event brings together professors, professionals and ordinary internet users for more than 130 activities and 200 lectures at the Bienal building, in Parque do Ibirapuera. Some of the highlights:
Dani Calabresa, the comedian, talking about boundaries in internet humour (3pm-4pm Tue)
An interactive performance by the theatre company SP Escola de Teatro (9pm-10pm Tue)
A lecture given by Ray Chan, creator of the popular 9GAG website (8pm-9pm Wed)
Entrance is free, but you need to subscribe to the event on the website first.
