The first posters were created in the middle of the 14th century as a way to visually inform an often illiterate public. Over the course of time, they also become appreciated for their aesthetic value.
As a way to encourage the production of this important advertising and historical tool, the Museu da Casa Brasileira organised a competition challenging the participants to design posters advertising Prêmio Design – a prestigious design award in Brazil.
The best works submitted for the competition will be included in the 'Seleção +22: Concurso do Cartaz' (Poster Competition) an exhibition gathering the twelve finalists’ posters as well as another 22 works considered standouts among the competition’s 792 applicants.
