Built at the end of the 19th century, the stunning Estação da Luz was, for a few decades, the main entrance to São Paulo – the station on a railway line that connected two important cities in São Paulo state – coastal Santos and rural Jundiaí.
Over a century later, and after going through an expansive renovation that has incorporated it as part of the Museu da Língua Portuguesa (the museum of Portuguese language), the Estação da Luz organises 50-minute guided tours – all in Portuguese – during the weekends and holidays, shedding light on the station's social and economic influence throughout its history. The tours depart from the museum's visitors entrance at noon and 2pm.
