Brazilian poet Oswald de Andrade’s biography is a reflection of a particular moment in Brazilian artistic history, indeed, Andrade’s Manifesto Antropófago, a crucial text in the development of the modernist movement – Brazilian style. As such an iconic figure on the Brazilian literature and art scene, it will come as no surprise that Andrade is now the subject of an exhibition at Museu da Língua Portuguesa. Visitors can expect to find reproductions of Andrade’s poems across the walls of the museum and also a collection of some of the poet’s drawings. There will also be the chance to read some mildly pornographic quotes from the author: keep your eyes peeled – they’re written on the doors of the museum’s bathroom.
