For a taste of one of São Paulo’s more traditional Carnival parties, look no further than the ‘Carnaval do Moleque Travesso’ (‘naughty boy carnaval’) hosted by the football club Clube Atlético Juventus, in the traditionally-Italian neighbourhood of Mooca. Expect four afternoons and nights of celebrations, from 18-21 February, with a kids’ matinee party from 3-6pm each day, and a party for the grown-ups each night, from 11pm. All ages should go decked out in costume (fancy dress), with a prize for the best-dressed kid on the Tuesday party. Live samba and marchinhas will be played every day by Banda Condor’s and, for the grown ups, there'll be samba shows performed by quick-footed, hip-wiggling dancing girls.
