Swing by the Museu Afro Brasil this Saturday to soak up the sounds and sights of Carnival from all over the word. Listen to the percussion and drumming of maracatu (traditionally from Pernambuco in the North-East of Brazil), alongside drumbeats from Africa, India and Europe. It's also a chance to learn about the costumes and masks worn by the maracatu drummers and dancers, as well as the history of some classic samba musicians, like Clementina de Jesus, Paulinho da Viola and the velha guarda – the samba 'old guard'.
