Despite recommendations from environmentalists and the example set by many European countries, all too many Brazilian architects still view wood as an inexhaustible raw natural resource, there for the taking.
With the intention of displaying the possibilities of using wood as an 'essential' primary building material, FAAP São José dos Campos has organised the exhibition, 'Architecture in Wood for the 21st Century'. The international works assembled for the show establish a panorama of environmentally-, socially- and ideologically-minded architecture fashioned from sustainable wood.
The first part of the exhibition shows the possibilities of construction, and the second one takes the concept further by featuring some models by Brazilian and international architects, as well as photos of the finished constructions.
Admittedly, this exhibition might be a little specific to appeal to a general audience, but it’s a must-see for environmentalists and architects.
