SESCs are well-funded, non-profit-making cultural institutions that exist in cities the length and breadth of Brazil, with 16 in São Paulo alone. They function as major athletic, performance and exhibition centres, offering genuinely world-class shows and events. Best of all, the ticket prices are always reasonable (around R$5-$25) and often even free. For information on programming at all of São Paulo’s SESCs, visit www.sescsp.org.br. Tickets for events have to be purchased in person, but you can do it at any SESC in the city (not necessarily the one holding the event) during the building’s general opening hours. All SESCs accept credit cards.
