The young and old, the ultra-rich and the dirt-poor, prostitutes, artists and traditional families – these are just some of the many residents of Copacabana, the famous Rio de Janeironeighbourhood.
Using the often-incongruous demographics of this area as an inspirational representation of Brazilian social and cultural diversity, Copacabana-born photographer Anna Kahn brings her lens inside the homes of the area known for its beachfront views. The result of her work, 'Olho Mágico' ('Peephole'), can be seen at Museu da Casa Brasileira, in an exhibition featuring 23 photographs.
A photo showing a pair of blue eyes in a peephole – put there by a telemarketing exec who wanted to tease her husband because he didn't want her to wear contact lenses – is just one of the many curious images on display, and the inspiration for the exhibition's name.
