With a name for being the go-to SP gallery when it comes to street art and allied genres, Pinheiros’s Choque Cultural does an excellent line in printmaking: the gallery has been running workshops and open days in the discipline, which is one of its strongest suits, for years now.
Currently planning changes to its space so as to expand its reach in terms of debates, meetings, courses and the like, the gallery is kickstarting the transformation with an entire month dedicated to printmaking in all its forms, from xylo-, and lithoprint to letterpress, screen printing and stamping.
As well as an expansive exhibition featuring works by artists like Samuel Casal (samuelcasal.com), Speto (Speto on Flickr), Tec (tecalbum.com), Stephan Doitschinoff (stephandoit.com.br) and Choque co-owner Mariana Martins (see Choque), and the chance to pick a print from the gallery’s affordable prints shop, highlights include workshops with the artists. Samuel Casal kicked off with a compelling workshop on the opening day, and Speto's is on 14 July. See the full workshop programme here.
