An art critic for more than forty years, Enock Sacramento is the curator of this Caixa Cultural exhibition focusing on cities. All together, 35 pieces by seven Brazilian artists portray urban life in a way that reminds us of the city’s original raison d’être: to bring many lives together in one place in a more or less organised fashion.
Almost as varied as a city’s inhabitants are the ways the same theme can be represented by different artists, from the heavy brush-strokes and bright colours of G. Fogaça to the works of Gregório Gruber, who paints the town in blood-red hues. There are also fun and chaotic paintings by artist Marcelo Solá, from Goiânia.
