A gem of a street-level cinema
Cine Sabesp, formerly Sala Cinemateca, opened in 1959. This little non-shopping-centre gem only has one screen – and consistently good taste in its choice of films. It hardly ever fills up, so on premier nights, while everyone else is in queues elsewhere, roll up here. They run a schools social inclusion programme, too, with monthly free shows for kids.
Tickets R$12-$18; R$6-$9 reductions
