The lovely Karina Buhr is to release her most recent album Longe de Onde at the SESC Pompeia choperia (bar area). Although she made her first big splash with her début studio album, it’s on stage that the half-Bahian and half-Pernambucan (Karina grew up in the musical whirlwind of Recife in the 1990s) composer and percussionist really shows us what she’s got. Often decked-out in flashy costumes and heavy eyeliner, the singer awakens her more voracious side and voilà: the stage is dominated and the audience, completely enthralled.
Accompanied by a super band – Bruno Buarque on drums and electronic beats, André Lima on keyboard, Guizado on trumpet, Mau on the bass and Edgard Scandurra and Fernando Catatau on electric guitars – Karina will play the intense (and punk inspired – even if it’s a bit of a genre experiment put-on) ‘Cara Palvra’ and the mid-tempo retro adult contemporary feel of ‘Não Me Ame Tanto’ and ‘Não Precisa Me Procurar’ with her psychedelic guitar stylings.
