For a night of jazz improv, head to the east of the city to see the US band Pulsar Quartet mixing post-rock and other styles. The foursome are led by multi-skilled artist Rob Mazurek who, besides being known for his electro-acoustic compositions, is also handy with a cornet and a paintbrush. Joining Mazurek will be Angélica Sanchez on the piano, John Herdon on drums and Matt Lux on bass.
Mazurek has strong ties with Brazil, having played alongside Brazilian singer-songwriter Marcelo Camelo in 2008 and 2009, and led Brazilian electro-jazz trio São Paulo Underground. At this SESC Belenzinho gig, Pulsar Quartet will be performing music from their very first album, Stellar Pulsations.
