Lead singer and founding member of the influential British goth band The Mission, Wayne Hussey brings an acoustic performance to the ABC region of São Paulo, at Dragon Bar in Santo André. Unusual as the somewhat peripheral location may be for this type of alternative rock event, the production company Projeto Let's Move Retrô has created what should be a fully fleshed-out dark evening, complete with Dead Souls, a Joy Division cover band, opening the night's festivities.
Having played a solo show last March at SESC Consolação and another last year at Cine Joia with the aforementioned Mission, Hussey – who lives here, and is married to a Brazilian – has been more present on local stages recently than he has in the past.
His setlist should draw heavily from any of The Mission's nine studio albums, dating back to 1986's God's Own Medicine, the band's debut following Hussey's and bassist Craig Adams's departure from The Sisters of Mercy. Perhaps he'll dig into his 2009 solo album Bare, which featured The Cure's 'A Night Like This', U2's 'With or Without You', and The Beach Boys' 'God Only Knows', among a crop of his own original compositions.
