Prepare yourself for a dose of hard rock, complete with screaming guitar riffs, hoarse voices and choruses that take the listener back to the soundscapes of the 1970s. Blue Öyster Cult lands in São Paulo for its national debut on 24 February at HSBC Brasil, for a trip through its classic repertoire, including rock radio staples like ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,’ ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Burnin’ For You’.
As contemporaries of Grand Funk Railroad and Uriah Heep, the New York band’s first album was released in 1972. And despite hitting the height of its productivity in the ’70s and early ’80s, the group continued to sporadically release albums over the last few decades, amounting to thirteen studio albums in total, with their most recent, Curse of the Hidden Mirror, in 2001.
But what really made BÖC stand out in the world of ‘heavy’ bands were their Edgar Allan Poe- and Stephen King-inspired lyrics. Original members Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma still tour with BÖC, while the replacement members’ resumes read like a Who’s Who of ’80s hard rock and heavy metal. Wear black.
