This carioca Snow White fell into the groove of the samba drum-beat almost by accident. A former art director, some friends jokingly invited her to try out for the Orquestra Imperial, an unpretentious collective that joined new generation names like Moreno Veloso and Rodrigo Amarante to put together to much critical fanfare. This ‘joke between friends’ eventually became a phenomenon and Nina found herself launched irretrievably into musical territory, as evidenced by the acclaimed project, 2010’s Vermelho e Azul, which led her out of the universe of tambourines, filled with noises and experimentations. Now, with the momentum of Carnival, she returns with a show dedicated to Lamartine Babo. With guest appearances by the Pernambucan Karina Buhr and China, Nina presents – in stylish fashion as usual – marchinhas (‘little marches’) from one of the biggest hit makers of King Momo’s extravaganza.
