Born and raised in Heliopólis, a suburb of São Paulo, Antônio Luiz Júnior began his relationship with music at age 14, when he had wind instrument lessons. But three years later, in 1989, his definitive musical persona emerged: Rappin Hood. Rhyming about life in the poorer neighbouhoods, the rapper has been part of the group Posse Mente Zulu and has now embarked on a solo career. Tonight, he performs with the band Rappin Hood Futebol Clube, playing the greatest hits of his career, and also some unreleased tracks which aren’t limited to straight-ahead rap – they flirt with Brazilian rhythms.
