Album review: Melody’s Echo Chamber

In this debut album by the French singer Melody Prochet, there are immediate, but not overbearing, similarities with Beach House’s bliss-pop – and elements too of Stereolab and Blonde Redhead in 25-year-old Prochet’s spectral singing. But what most distinguishes Melody’s Echo Chamber (Fat Possum Records), are the tendencies drawn out by her collaborator, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. Melody’s airy incantations wed to Silver Apples-esque psych grooves and distorted guitars make this debut both thrilling and fresh.
