The combo of music and dining may be as old as civilization itself, but music–food mash-ups rarely get as good as this. On Sunday 12 August, the impressive railway-station-turned-concert-hall Sala São Paulo is hosting the charity event Copa Gastronômica Gols pela Vida ('the Goals for Life Gastromonic Cup')  – a morning string recital with music by Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali followed at midday by food, cooked and served by top chefs from around the world.

Manning stands will be the likes of Helena Rizzo (of Maní), Roberta Sudbrack (of Roberta Sudbrack in Rio de Janeiro), Rodrigo Oliveira (of Mocotó), Rio-based French chef Claude Troisgros (of Olympe, CT Trattorie and CT Boucherie in Rio de Janeiro) as well as Chinese-American chef Ken Hom.

Tickets start at R$20 for the concert, plus R$20 per dish, and the proceeds raise money for the charity Pesquisa Pelé Pequeno Príncipe which carries out research into childhood illnesses.
