Whether you're out for a first date, or celebrating an anniversary, we've rounded up the best restaurants to put romance on the menu

Carlota

Rua Sergipe 753, Higienópolis (3661 9465/ carlota.com.br)

Due Cuochi Cucina

Rua Manoel Guedes 93, Itaim Bibi (3078 8092/ duecuochi.com.br) and 3rd floor, Shopping Cidade Jardim (3758 2731)

We're big fans of Due Cuochi Cucina's set lunch menu, but when it comes to romance, it's all about the evening setting, and you simply can't wrong with a table by the window, looking out over the city, at the newer Due Cuochi Cucina in Shopping Cidade Jardim. Be there by 7.30pm to get a table. Read more on Due Cuochi Cucina

Biondi

Rua Pedroso Alvarenga 1026, Itaim Bibi (3078 5273/ biondirestaurante.com.br)

With one of the best value tasting menus in town, for R$140 you can take your time over seven courses of beautifully presented classic Italian cooking. The intimate setting hits just the right understated yet sophisticated note for a special night out. Read more on Biondi

Chou

This atmospheric dinner-only spot in Pinheiros is a guaranteed winner for romance. Bag a table out the back, under a canopy of trees and fairy lights, and kick things off with one of the creative caipirinhas, followed by no-frills food, grilled on the backyard charcoal grill. Read more on Chou

Enoteca Saint Vin Saint

Rua Professor Atílio Innocenti 811, Vila Nova Conceição (3846 0384/ saintvinsaint.com.br)

The abundance of candles, the intimate setting with just twelve tables and the extensive wine list, make this an ideal spot for a special ocassion à deux. Live jazz sax on Thursday nights, and a jazz duet on Friday nights ramp up the romance.
