‘Food to be seen. Art to be eaten’. These staccato sentences sum up the concept behind the food at Itaim’s Sushi Deck, a Japanese restaurant that’s decked out in so much wood and arty lighting that it feels more like a luxury spa than a restaurant. Luckily, the food lives up to its high-art promise, with sushi so beautifully presented that it probably does belong in a swish Jardins gallery. Try the twirls of salmon decorated with almonds, or the raw octopus, and don’t miss the starter of skinny, fried mushrooms, packed with startling flavour.
