Maria Bonita

Architectural fashion in an art-gallery-esque store

Maria Bonita

Architecture and art influence this highly-creative label’s designs. Maria Bonita is known for impeccably cut, contemporary clothes made with innovative fabrics. Maria Bonita’s founder, Maria Cândida Sarmento, passed away in 2002, leaving her legacy in the hands of her assistant Danielle Jensen.

The smart Rua Oscar Freire store has all the feel of an art gallery – a long, narrow space with a concrete floor, high ceilings, and clothes presented against bare white walls. Don't miss a peruse up the stairs on the first floor, where cocktail dresses and gowns are on display, alongside home decor such as luxury cushions. They also stock stunning architectural jewellery from designers like Bettina Terepins, as well as shoes and handbags, which the friendly shop assistants will be quick to tempt you with, to complete a look.

Across the street you'll spot the twin shop Maria Bonita Extra, created in 1990 for a younger, but no-less selective public. The small shop is filled with fun pieces and colourful casual wear. You can also find Maria Bonita stores in Shopping Iguatemi and Shopping Market Place.
