Rent-a-bike at metrô stations across town
If you don’t have a bike, worry not. São Paulo has a bike rental scheme running at 15 metrô stations, and 8 car parks across the city. You can rent by the hour, up to a maximum of 20 hours. The service (for over 18s) is free for the first half hour, and costs R$2 per hour thereafter, and includes a helmet and lock.
To get your hands on a bike, you need to fill out a form on arrival and provide a credit card as a guarantee. If you're renting one for the first time, residents will need to present an ID and a proof of residency, while non-residents will need to present a passport or photo ID and a hotel bill or proof of a temporary address with their name on.
Rental points include Vila Madalena Metrô – turn left out of the metrô and walk 100 yards up along Rua Heitor Penteado. See the website for a full list of locations.
