The Cultura Inglesa Festival is bringing a selection of international theatre and performance events to São Paulo, including Watch iT, a dance odyssey by Scottish choreographer Tony Mills, which incorporates snippets of film and animation into a comedy in which Mills questions one man's love-hate relationship with his television.
Another highlight from the festival's theatre line-up is Bane – a one-man, one-musician trilogy of playlets written and performed by Joe Bone which has won awards at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival and in Australia, where it recently completed a three month tour. Joe Bone will be bringing the first part of the trilogy – Bane 1 – to São Paulo as part of the Cultura Inglesa Festival, with a dizzyingly elaborate performance in which his character Bruce Bane, a tough-talking hitman, goes on a mission to discover who is trying to kill him, playing all the characters along the way. Bone has been earned critical acclaim for his craftsmanship, chameleon physicality and splendid array of accents.
