Forget all the usual clown clichés and make the most of this month's school holidays to bring your family to see the brilliant actor-performer-clown Ésio Magalhães on stage at the CIT-Ecum theatre.
Magalhães plays a clown-soldier, Zabobrim, in the play WWW para Freedom, sent to free a hypothetical people from a hypothetical dictator. In the process, he begins to question what he's fighting for and launches his own mission, to fight for freedom, injecting some thought-provoking moments into the humour.
Magalhães is co-founder of the theatre company Barracão Teatro, who celebrated their fifteenth year in 2013. In 2007, Magalhães played the same character, Zabobrim, in A Julieta e o Romeu – a wonderful play that earned him his first nomination for best actor in Brazil's Prêmio Shell de Teatro.
