Celebrating the 70th birthday of Bossa Nova diva Nara Leão, this musical pays tribute to the singer with a lineup of songs spanning her 25 year career. 'Nara is a genuinely Brazilian musical that doesn’t take Broadway references, but finds its own way’, says the director Márcio Araújo. ‘It shows the relevance of a genre of music that was born here and conquered the world,' he adds. Lead actress Fernanda Couto has been making her own conquests, too, winning the best actress APCA (the São Paulo Art Critics Association) award for her portrayal of Nara. The musical won another APCA award for best musical direction as well. Not impressed? Did we mention the Shell award for best music?
