Fiddler on the Roof first hit the stage on Broadway back in 1964, and is up there among some of the longest running productions in Broadway history. Charles Möeller and Claudio Botelho – the director duo responsible for more than thirty musicals in Brazil – are behind this Brazilian version – Um Violinista no Telhado – at Teatro Alfa, telling the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman who lives in tsarist Russia with his five daughters, under constant threat of expulsion because of his religion.
